From the time I was engaged, until the first year or two after I was married, I wore my engagement ring on heavy rotation. I mean, why wouldn't the rock get all the love? The symbolism of just being engaged is irrestible, not to mention the lure of a fancy and oftentimes pricey piece of jewelry.

Now, nearly five years in, my wedding band is the one getting love. Trust me, dears, once you are a Mrs, between any housework you might do, dealing with the little ones, and generally living life, having a rock on your finger may not be your first priority. Don't give the wedding band search short shrift. Consider how it will look both with and without your engagement ring. And typically, less is more with your engagement band. My husband and I chose matching "puzzle" rings from Georg Jensen (#9 below). They're two pieces that interlock into one. I got white gold with diamond specks, and he got a white and rose gold combo.
